Our Weissburgunder Sand&Schiefer grows both on slate soils in Kitzeck-Sausal and on sandy soils in Gamlitz. Morillon Schiefergestein and Pinot Gris Kitzeck-Sausal come exclusively from our high slate slopes in Kitzeck-Sausal.

Vineyards

Pinot Gris Kitzeck-Sausal / Morillon Schiefergestein: These wines come from our favourite vineyards within the traditional wine-growing village of Kitzeck im Sausal. With its high altitude and unique slate soils, the village of "Kitzeck-Sausal" offers excellent conditions for growing wine. There is evidence that Kitzeck-Sausal was already an important wine-growing centre of the monarchy in 1763.

Pinot Blanc Sand&Slate: We harvest some of the grapes for this wine from our high slate slopes in Kitzeck-Sausal, which gives the wine its special flavour and elegance. The other part of the grapes comes from our Gamlitz vineyards and brings an accessible structure and primary flavours to the wine.

Vinification

Spontaneously fermented and gently matured in large oak barrels or in small parts in steel tanks. Long maturation on the lees for at least 10 months.
